What are your initial thoughts about the advert?
My initial thoughts about this advert are that the product makes you believe that it can make you feel good about yourself. The advertisement comes across sexual.

What interesting denotations and connotations do you notice?

What do you think the advertiser is trying to communicate to the target audience?
The advertiser is trying to appeal to young views to their company (Dolce and Gabbana).

Why do you think people may have protested against the advert?  
I believe that people could protest about this advert because it is sexist to women and could come across as down grading women.

This advert caused controversy over its use of a suicide bomber in an advertisement that was designed to show the Polo as a 'Small but tough' car.





 
What are your initial thoughts about the advert?
My initial thoughts about this advert are that it is very violent to the views and is not related to the product. This advert could also be seen as way of stereotyping.

This advert could be seen as very offensive and misleading to the view. This could have been lead to reason of this advert being taken of air.

(Even though many steps are taken to ensure ads are compliant before they are aired or published, consumers have the right to complain about ads they have seen, which they believe to be misleading, harmful or offensive.)
There is also another issue of the matter of harmful or negative stereotypes that this advert has seemed to come across. This could have offended a number of people which could have given this company a bad name and loss of income.

The ASA and BCAP recognise that the use of stereotypes is an inevitable part of establishing characters within the brief span of a TV commercial. But some stereotypes can be harmful or deeply insulting to the groups in question and care is needed that they do not condone or feed prejudice or perpetuate damaging misconceptions.
